Literature was important to both James and Allison. James sustained himself in prison by reading novels, and Allison became a literature major (and teacher). How important—if at all—has literature been to you?

Reading has been important to me since my teens. Good, well written books open a world for me that I otherwise may never have known. I do enjoy some tv shows but they do lose the magic of an author creating a world inside my head - so yes, books, books, and more books foe me.

I agree with everything you mentioned in your comment. Reading has opened my eyes many times and has helped me get through some difficult times.

I discovered my love of reading in my junior year of high school and have been reading ever since! Reading is a big pass time in my family, and love discussing and sharing books between us!

Literature and reading is a huge part of my life! It opens up a new world which often I had no knowledge of. I especially enjoy historical fiction for that reason. It is a two for one! reading a good book and learning something new at the same time.

Literature shaped my formative years. Then, in my twenties, it fell out of my life for the most part. Now I have reconnected with it, and I’m so sad it was gone from my life for so long. Never again.

Very important!!! I love to read and by reading you are able to travel to different places and times in history and learn so very much ! I can get caught up in a story and lose hours in my day by reading. I cant even imagine a life without books!

Literature is a part of me. Without it I would not be who I am. People who abuse books make me so mad. And the idiots that champion book banning or book burning - oh do not get me started!
