Like her heroine, Miss Marple, Phyllis claims that you should always believe the worst in people. Do you think the events of this book prove her right or wrong? Do you have any mottoes in your own life?

I think the events proved her wrong for the most part. There were some wonderful people in the book. They all had their secrets, but most weren’t bad. I have to disagree with Phyllis and Miss Marple on this one. My only motto is “life is short”.

I agree Phyllis was wrong about the characters in this book. They all had their secrets but were good people. I always look for the good in people.

I also disagree. Everyone has secrets, but that doesn’t make them bad people. I think Miss Marple may have meant (and I do hate to put words in Agatha’s mouth) that you need to be able to see the bad parts of people in order to find a murderer–that we are all capable of that under the right circumstances. In this case, the people were mainly good.

I believe in looking for the good in people. I think in this book that the good came out in everyone.

Que sera, sera, whatever will be, will be. It was my senior yearbook quote and still holds true today. You can’t sweat the small stuff.

I think she was wrong. Given a chance, she became quite a nice person.
