Lauren really dislikes Amos, yet he keeps popping up in the husband queue. Why do you suppose this is? What did you think of their final scene together?

I thought it was one of the most awful ways to get rid of the husband! She had to drug him and physically push him up fully into the attic! I guess he keeps popping up because at one time, Lauren thought he may have been “the one”. She needed to keep experiencing him again and again to know that he would never be right for her.

They must have had some chemistry together for him to keep popping up. But then maybe the author kept reintroducing him to add some controversy to her relationships?

I haven’t finished the book yet so I’ll refrain from answering this question fully, but I suspect that they are somehow meant for each other - if not as partners, perhaps as friends, or in order to bring others into their lives, like how Amos’s leaving brought Lauren and his “ex” together as friends.
