Jon and Morgan argue about David’s intent. Morgan thinks he did truly care about her, while Jon reminds her David was a con man and was likely faking affection. What are your thoughts about this?

I didn’t like David at all and agree with Jon. He was a con man through and through.

I agree that I did not like David and he certainly was a con man. However, I do think he cared for Morgan, as much as he could. There is a moment later in the book, where he could have killed her and he didn’t. I do think David is disturbed and a con man, so I don’t think he has the emotional ability to really love someone, but maybe he cared for her as much as he could. Still a rat!

David is certainly a disturbed person. I haven’t read the previous book about Morgan and David’s relationship plus murder of her parents. He seems creepy and dangerous. I suspect he didn’t kill or injure her because he’s waiting for a better and private time with her. Yuck.

I have not read the first book. This is my first in the series. I do plan on reading the rest. I think the fact he saved her from the gun men showed he cared. I will have to read the others to find out for sure

Just based upon this book, I think the old adage “two things can be true” could apply. David is/was a con man but he might have had true feelings for Morgan.

He is very frightening. He did kill her parents! I agree with Jon.

YES! Totally creepy! Disturbed and a murderer! If he “saved” her this time, it is because he wants to continue to toy with her and maybe murder her later. UGH!!!

Hahaha, @Karen_K, I love your interpretation!

Jon cared about Morgan; however, was influenced by his career choice - police officer. Eventually, he told Morgan he had been investigating David for some time. He knew more about David’s conning people.
