The Cambridge Dictionary’s word of the year is “parasocial,” which is defined as a one-sided connection where one person feels an intimate, one-sided bond with someone they do not know personally.
While the word is new, the concept isn’t; according to multiple sources, people have always been obsessed with those who are famous.
