P. 278 Nina said “Now that we have been able to talk, I see i was right. They wanted each of us to believe we had brought the trouble to our family. They used our love, our desire to protect . . .They wanted to make us doubt ourselves and each other. To crush our spirits.”.
THIS quote seemed to capture war, enemies, and fear. It seems clear they were trying to divide and separate so someone would CRACK.

“You say ‘the other side’ as if you believe there are only two,” Otto said. “So much trouble comes from men who see only two faces—the self and the enemy, right and wrong. It is the way of power." This resonated with me because life if full of gray areas. It is easy to be mean-spirited when people can be classified only as friend or foe and actions can be classified only as right or wrong.
