If you lived at Sheldon Oaks how do you think you would have reacted, learning a serial killer was also a resident, particularly after a suspicious death occurred?
The thing about living in a retirement(senior) home or community is that the most popular extra curricular activity is GOSSIP.
I think I would have been very surprised to learn a serial killer was also a resident at a retirement home. A part of me would be apprehensive and another part of me would be very intrigued! I hope I would have an open mind and not rush to any judgments or conclusions. It certainly would make life at the retirement home much more interesting!
It would all depend on the murderer’s disposition. If she/he was snarly, sarcastic and prone to creep around, I’d be on the alert and would often talk to those in charge. If, though, this person was like Carol and paid her prison dues, I’d give her a chance but no doubt would keep my door locked anyway. Oh, heck, I already keep my house doors locked all the time I’m home!
I might try to make sure others knew, but the released murderer has as much right to live there as anyone else if they paid their way in.
This book made me never want to live in a retirement home.
Probably sacred and curious at the same time. I certainly keep my doors locked and a baseball bat by my side. How’s that for being brave???
I would like to believe that I could accept who someone is no Matter what their past is. I just hope I never get tested
I would keep on keeping on and disregard the gossip.
I would be very careful, but consider that there are relatively few women serial killers and Carol had just 35 years in prison so possibly could have completely changed. She did seem to evaluate her victims based on actions she deemed as incompatible with honorable qualities, so she did have a set of standards. On the other hand, she could potentially slip at any time. Prison may have been the safest place for her, although I would prefer that Carol continue to live in the posh retirement home.
I would have been cautious and intrigued at the same time. I probably would have talked to staff to find out if it was true and then proceeded with caution. I think I would probably enjoy an exciting event in the retirement home.
I definitely would have tried to stay on her good side.
Most retirement facilities only share information dependent upon what the future resident shares. The individual residents have no say as to whom is accepted as a client. Having said that, such an individual would undoubtedly cause some concern if approved.
ha ha , I think you are correct.
I suspect that I would not be very happy about it. However, once I started reading the circumstances and the behavior of people that our female serial killer had selected, the resident killer became less scary.
