If The Frozen River was adapted for film or television, who would you cast in the leading roles? Are there any components of the story you think would be especially striking to see acted out on screen?
Kathy Bates would be great as Martha. She emanates both strength of character and warmth. I have no particular choices for the other characters as there are many who would do a great job. I would love to see this as a movie or series.
Bates was my immediate choice, too!
I never even considered Kathy Bates, @Marcia_Sailer & @NanK! Perfect choice, though.
I’ve got the latest Yellowstone spinoff in my mind and was thinking Helen Mirren and Harrison Ford.
I agree with you, she would be very good in the role.
Leading roles for film or television, Meryl Streep for Martha and Colin Firth for Ephraim. What I would enjoy seeing acted out throughout the presentation would be their relationship. He was such a wonderful caring man even from the beginning when he knew he wanted to marry her and protect her.
Possibly Alana De La Garza who plays Special Agent in Charge on the television show FBI because of her desire to get justice even if means going against her superiors. I think it could be a two-parter one the investigation and then the court scene where justice is served even if influentinal people are those accused.
I love to imagine if a favorite novel of mine were to be adapted. I agree with Paula’s choices of the leading man and woman. Emotions run high in many scenes of the book, so seasoned actors would be needed.
She would certainly be the best character to act out defeat the monster.!
I think all of the actresses mentioned are wonderful, but too old for the part. I’m thinking someone like Kate Blanchett.
