How did you feel about Thirza's relationship with Emilio? How does it impact her time in Corfu?

Their relationship was very one sided - lots of sex but we never got to know Emilio - I wondered if their marriage would last.

Emilio’s character wasn’t as developed. He was necessary for the plot. Once married will he leave his sister and their hotel business? It appeared that he was willing to move on with Thirza…and his renewed relationship with the mother-in-law. Ahem.

I agree with Laura, and he was 14 years older than Thirza. Not sure if he was looking for a safe place to land after the annulment,

I agree with Laura and Dorothy.

I didn’t like the relationship. He didn’t divulge his background with her mother. She didn’t divulge her relationship with the house. Neither one was honest. Her sleeping with her brother’s father was distasteful to me, whether she knew it or not

I, too, wondered why the author developed that storyline. It was enough that mom slept with Emilio. Strange family connections!

She was on again, off again. That feels very real, very human. She started out being so independent and then just became this love sick puddle. Again, I think this is a very human trait.
Jeffries gave such slight mention to mythological characters (something that was disappointing to me) but the whole relationship with Dulcie, Thirza, and Emilio seemed very Greek god story like.
How did it impact her time in Corfu? It ended up binding her there.

I agree with Laura, Nan and Dorothy. We never really got to know Emilio. I didn’t feel like they were actual soulmates as their relationship was mostly just sex. Was Emilio going to stay on Corfu or expect her to also go to Italy with him? The whole relationship was a bit twisted. I sometimes felt she married him so Romi would have a dad around more.

I agree with all these comments. There was too much focus on the sex for my taste. The relationship was not fleshed out and began with deception from each of them. The author wrote she is working on sequels for this family. I anticipate marital trouble for Thirza.

I agree with Karen’s comment about the Greek gods and the similarities with this family.

I agree with Marcia. I was completely turned off by their relationship. Therefore I could not feel any empathy for Thirza’s emotional morass.

I couldn’t warm up to this relationship at all. For me, it detracted from Thirza’s time in Corfu.

Emilio seemed to be a chacter for the sex scenes. He did not know that Thirza was Dulcie daughter?? Really? What was the reason for his character anyway?

The relationship with Emilio was my least favorite part of this novel. I couldn’t beleive he didn’t break it off after realizing who Triza was. I thought he was sleezy.
