It’s about (and written by) a woman who decided to become a librarian during COVID.
Thank you so much for this article, Kim! I am a former librarian of 35 years and the article read like a page out of my life’s book before retirement. If more people knew what the life of a librarian was actually like, I would venture to say the profession would receive a lot more respect. ![]()
This is a great article! Librarians are such unsung heroes and the libraries with availability now of all kinds of things besides books. My library started a seed library, others have kitchen appliances, tools, and so much more to lend. Librarians deal with crazy questions, neurodivergent clients, unhoused individuals and every day is unique and often unexpected challenge.
I am currently trying to get my hands on books for our upcoming book festival. As I was loading up a stack to bring home the librarian asked me what was up and told me she would get anything I couldn’t find. How kind was that?
We need to support our libraries and library staff. If we don’t appreciate and support them they might not be here or be as well stocked as we might hope them to be.
