Have you read the author’s debut novel, My Sister, the Serial Killer, and if so, how do the two compare?

Oyinkan Braithwaite showcases parts of her Nigerian culture which presents the importance of women. Relationships, dependencies, the desires and needs of women are front and center in her two novels. Although the story lines differed from one another, family was a common thread. I really enjoyed the interjection of certain words that I had to reference for clarity such as; bubu, chin chin and shawarma in Cursed Daughters. Thanks for that vocabulary.

I did not but I’m thinking about trying it.

I have not read the author’s debut novel. I don’t think it is my type of book.

Yes, I read it the year or the year after it came out and I enjoyed it. I loaned to someone since I liked it so much. I was a fast read. I liked both books as I felt they were different and both good.

I read My Sister the Serial Killer after Cursed Daughters and enjoyed it. It was an easy read with humor even though it wasn’t a funny topic.Again she writes about family ties and responsibilty. I think if you liked Cursed Daughters you will like this one too. Can’t wait to see what she writes next.
