Has anyone read any other books by Colleen Oakley? Do they have this dry humor?
Hi Leslie_R, Yes, I read The Mostly Trye Story of Tanner and Louise. It was very well received and has a 4.03 overall score on goodreads with 38,000 ratings. It was humorous and dealt with a road trip with an 84 year old woman and a college student. It was quirky but had messages of empowerment and friendship. I think if you like her writing you would like this one.
I own the invisible husband of Frick Island. I apologize for typos. I have a broken finger, and it is hard to capitalize.
I have moved it higher in my pile to be read. I did not like Jane but I did find the book a good read.
I enjoy her writing style and like that her books feature interesting/unusual pairings. The couple things I’ve read by Colleen have all explored relationships and do a great job of telling us something true about the world, in an allegorical way. The humor is also a highlight for me.
No this book was my first experience with Oakley.
I love her books. They are always infused with humor and wit, but also evoke deep emotions. I particularly loved The Invisible Husband of Frick Island & highly recommend it. It is utterly charming and very touching. It’s one of those rare books you wish you could read again for the first time.
