Have you ever eaten at a restaurant with a Michelin star? Did it live up to the hype? Or do you think you would enjoy that kind of dining experience?
I’ve never eaten at a restaurant with a Michelin star. But, I know I wouldn’t have enjoyed anything that was served or the atmosphere of this restaurant.
I’m not aware of ever eating at a restaurant with a Michelin star. When I’ve looked at menus of certain “fancy” restaurants I sometimes don’t know what half the ingredients are and the food is very expensive. I prefer eating at farm to table restaurants with really good food food that isn’t over priced.
I would love to eat at a Michelin restaurant. I like trying new things. I
My husband once got a gift certificate to one of those really expensive steak places. It was delicious, but overall I was pretty horrified at spending so much for a single meal. The tab was like double my weekly grocery bill. That’s the closest I’ve gotten. Plus I like just plain grub, I have to admit. I’m not the fancy dinner type.
I don’t think that I’ve ever eaten at a restaurant with a Michelin star but I don’t think I’d enjoy it. The food may be fantastic but the atmosphere is probably uncomfortable.
I don’t think I have. It might be fun to try once, anyway. But I might cringe at the expense of the food more than I would enjoy it!
A post was merged into an existing topic: Overall, what did you think of Jane and Dan at the End of the World? (no spoilers, please!)
I have and it was outstanding. Quite the dining experience. It was so much more than just the food, which was excellent of course. The entire experience was awesome.
I enjoy finding new and different eating experiences while traveling. Someplace that represents a city, country, or culture. In those circumstances I have eaten in Michelin star restaurants and have not been disappointed.
Me too. I like simple ingredients prepared well. I have never been to a Michelin restaurant and in truth, when I have looked at the menus, it is just not me.
I’m a Michelin star geek! I have eaten at at a few and have only had one restaurant that didn’t live up to the hype. I knew we were in for a unique experience when I saw their Michelin star on display in the unisex bathroom. ![]()
We have eaten at some spectacular restaurants over the years and never have been disappointed in spite of the high cost. Eating in these places is considered “once in a lifetime” so in my opinion worthwhile.
I have not! I am fairly adventurous eater and I enjoy new experiences, so I think I would enjoy it. However, I’m a bit of a penny pincher and I don’t think I could justify the money spent lol ![]()
I have a grandson that is a chef and he has worked for a couple Michelin restaurants. For a special night out a Michelin restaurant is great - the food is good and the atmosphere is wonderful. However only for a special occasion. I am just as happy with a great hot beef sandwich or a great burger and fires on most nights.
I don’t know if I have ever eaten at a restaurant with a Michelin star. But I do eat at Mama’s Fish House frequently when on Maui and it is considered world-class cuisine. It is expensive, and we don’t go there every time we are on the island. But my youngest son and I dined there the first time we returned to the island after the COVID shutdown. We celebrated his promotion and my retirement, and it was lovely. The food is delicious and the service is impeccable. We enjoy it very much and create special memories every time we go there.
