Hello Readers, I was wondering if you have attended any great author visits this year? I recently saw Renee Rosen who wrote Let’s Call Her Barbie. The room had a pink entrance, a great photo backdrop and the author brought her own Barbies. In addition, she had a fun powerpoint with great photos. It was so much fun.
How about you? Any fun literary adventures?

I have not recently, but I would love to. My stepmom in Colorado Springs told me she recently enjoyed Sandra Dallas’s event for her book, Tough Love.
How fun, I have never seen Sandra Dallas but I have heard she is funny and very personable, so I do hope I get a chance to see her.

I have not attended any large event like you describe, but always attend my local library foundation’s author luncheon. The guest speaker is always a local author (Denver metro area) and is typically one who is new to me. I always buy their book and read it. By doing this, I have discovered several authors that are new to me but who I now follow.
Stephen Puleo at the library in Wareham MA. Mr. Puleo has written 8 non-fiction books (9th will be released soon) I have read 4 including The Great Abolitionist: Charles Sumner and the Fight For a More Perfect Union; Dark Tide: The Great Molasses Flood; Voyage of Mercy: The USS Jamestown, the Irish Famine and the Remarkable Story of America’s First Humanitarian Mission. Amazing speaker and teacher. Mr. Puleo’s books are informative, relevant, and highly readable think Erik Larson.

Living in Southwest Kansas I rarely get to attend author events. The nearest bookstore (excluding Walmart, Target, etc.) selling new books is over 2 1/2 hours away. I did get to attend an author event of a 2025 Kansas Notable Book, Las Madres: Latinas in the Heartland Who Led Their Family to Success by Dennis Raphael Garcia last fall. A few years ago our local library hosted Tom Clavin when his book, Dodge City, came out. We were very lucky to have him visit, but since his book was about our city and he used the library’s Kansas collection as well as that of the Kansas Heritage Center, which is housed in the library, and the Boot Hill Museum he made an exception.
For anyone who loves Old West history, the Heritage Center is exceptional and used by researchers from all over the world. It is not just for academics, though. Anyone with an interest in that period is welcome.
