Had you heard of a hodag or a cryptozoologist before reading the book?
I had not heard of a hodag or cryptozoologist before reading this book. I have not done so yet but plan to google and learn more about both! I love reading fiction that makes me want to learn more!!
I had not heard of either. I have heard of people who hunt big foot,
Yes, I had heard of both. This leads me to a question. We didn’t have any crypto character legends where I grew up in Iowa. Did anyone on BB experience such legends during your childhood and region? I expect for the Northwest to have stories about bigfoot. I’ve also heard about Moth Man in the east.
No, I had not and the fact that it’s based on a real legend was interesting enough to make me want to learn more. If you look at this author’s other books, they are all based on legend’s like the Loch Ness, Bigfoot, and others.
I had not heard of either
I had heard of a cryptozoologist and find all of those crypto creatures fascinating which is originally what drew me to this book and will probably go back and read the series from the beginning. I had never heard of a Hodag before though!
I’ve never heard of a hodag. But I watch a lot of Bigfoot documentaries and have heard of a cryptozoologist.
I had never heard of a hodag. Only 6 months ago, I learned about Mothman. My friend’s teenage son is all about this world, so I happen to know Santa bought him the series of books. There really is a book for everyone! (Thanks Bookbrowse, I would never have known to recommend this to Santa)
I had not heard of a hodag before and in my mind I pictured something taller and more upright. It was fascinating to find out the hodag was really a “creature” legend. Further research made the book even better since I knew the author had gone down the same trail to write this book!
No, both terms are new to me…I am always happy to learn something new.
No, I never had heard of either. I agree with Paula that it is always fun to learn something new while reading fiction.
Only because I read the Door County book of Annelise Ryan’s, otherwise, I never heard of the term. I would put it in the Ghostbuster’s category, and not looked for “documentaries” on the topic. But, as a Just for Fun book, I enjoyed the wacky topic. The thing that actually scares me is creepy people possibly following the heroine and the history of her parent’s murder in the past, that is what really scares me in the books. It is an unresolved issue, and haunting. She is always putting herself in risky situations, that scares me too.
I’ve heard of cryptozoologist but the hodag was a real surprise. Evidently it’s well-known in Paul Bunyan stories and I think in some hunting camps. It’s also known in Wisconsin. People have fun with it even though it’s a hoax.
No, never heard of it
Never. But what a fun job that would be!
I had never heard about the Hodag or a cryptozoologist…not exactly an actual science from what I understand. No doubt there are wealthy people and groups spending an inordinate amount of time in the basement of the science building funding research.
I guess they research extinct animals in addition to the mythic creatures. Learn something new every day.
No, I hadn’t so the book educated me!
