The prominent literary magazine Granta will no longer publish the winning entries of the annual Commonwealth short story prize after one of this year’s winners drew widespread accusations of AI use.
Jerah, Thanks for posting. I understand not wanting an AI generated story be the winner. But knowing how hard it is to be a paid writer, it seems that there are other ways to control this. First there are tech ways to find out if something is tech driven, and while limited these tools are getting better every day.
Or there could be a legal document that requires that no AI be part of the process. Failure to fulfill the contract means a financial and public humiliation.
To me, writers and readers are being punished by the action of one person. Others, what do you think?
