Geoffrey learns about manscaping and attempts the grooming technique (injuring himself in the process). Is there a modern trend that you find surprising?
Honestly, Iām out of touch with modern male trends. Perhaps facial cleansing, moisturizing and using a wee bit of make-up is a newer trend. Iām all for skin care!
I thought this was soooo funny! Poor guy!
The current trend that baffles me is people wearing pajama bottoms - and slippers! - outside the home. I see it all the time at the grocery store.
This was one of the scenes I thought was totally unnecessary. He hasnāt attempted to be modern in any other way. Why would he start with manscaping, especially when the women thought it was odd, too?
I thought this was pretty hysterical! Both sexes certainly go through many silly (and sometimes dangerous) rituals trying to make ourselves more attractive.
I remember way back when, when I got divorced after being with my former husband for 12 years. I felt I had no idea about the rules of dating anymore, and felt quite at sea. I think thatās why I could relate to this scene (not the manscaping per se, but trying something new & puzzling because thatās what the young folks are doing these days).
Manscaping was new to me! A somewhat modern trend that has kind of surprised me is the man bun as a hairstyle choice.
I guess itās that old adage. . . what is good for the goose, is good for the gander. Female get Brazilian wax, men get Manscaping!!!
Manscaping for a mansplainer.
I used to be bothered with eyebrow piercingsā¦wanted to āknock it offā (never did, of course).
That seems to have faded away, to be replaced by nose piercings (both males and females).
I want to ask how that works out when you have a coldā¦but never do, of course.
I like this part of the book - very funny. But manscaping has really been around a long type, maybe just not mainstream.
What surprises me the most is that young people will make massive and permanent body alterations without imagining what theyāll look like at 60. Some adornments work, some donāt.
When I was still working at the local public library, many patrons came dressed like it was pajama day. I was a tad jealous. Now that Iām retired I find myself wearing what a younger friend calls āsoft pantsā, casual knit pants that are more forgiving & comfortable than jeans but not the level of pajama bottoms. And Iāve noticed Iām not the only one whoās made the discovery.
I am enjoying reading all the comments here. Appearance, especially slopiness, out in public, annoys me and shows my āadvancedā age. I still want to present myself in the most flattering way and care about my appearance.
I did not know about manscaping. I have had the same partner my whole life.I think I would be very surprised if he changed.
I think the modern trend that I find surprising is tongue piercing. I would never do it. I would be agraid it would destroy my ability to tast chocolat
I thought this was funny. It didnāt add to the plot, but it made me laugh.
Lip injections. Iāve yet to see that improve anyoneās appearance. It just looks like theyāre allergic to something.
Hey Gina V your description of lip injections is right on. I have yet to see anyone that has done it, look better. Most of them look like a Koi fish with a life preserver for lips.
And those lips are an insult to Koi fish who wear them better!
And I have also seen it in hotel restaurants - primarily for breakfast.
