I agree with that statement. No one is perfect, love isn’t perfect. True love sees the imperfection and deals with it. If you expect perfection in any kind of relationship you will eventually be disillusioned by that.
I agree with Frank. If you think someone is perfect you are not living in reality. There is no perfect person. It would be a huge burden for both people in a relationship if perfection was an expectation.
I think you understand their “imperfections”, and they may well be perfect in your eyes, regardless.
I think that’s true. When you are infatuated with someone you don’t see them for who they truly are. If you do see someone with all their flaws and still love them..that may well be your person.
I believe it’s healthy and beneficial to focus on the qualities you appreciate in your partner rather than dwelling on the ones you dislike. However, it would be unhelpful (and perhaps unhealthy?) to ignore the fact that your partner is flawed (as we all are) and will occasionally do things you don’t like or agree with.
Frank might feel that Rita doesn’t see him as a whole person. To truly see him as such, she would need to acknowledge that he is fallible. Her unwillingness to recognize his humanity may have alerted him to their differing views on relationships and partnerships.
I’m channeling Brene Brown now, thinking about how all humans desire belonging, but that true belonging can only happen when we accept ourselves and others as perfectly imperfect.
