Ella frequently thinks that if she were Queen of the World she would take a specific action. What did you think of this strategy? If you were Queen or King of the World, what change would you make?
I thought it showed a selfish side of Ella that I really didnât like.

It made me laugh because my mother always said she was meant to be queen. She was actually a hard working single parent. If I was queen of the world- where would I even start. I think I would start with some type of gun control as unpopular as that is in this country. I know every reason that it wonât work- Iâve heard all the arguments. I think you have to start somewhere though.

I didnât put a lot of thought to the comment. I think it was a fun way to say âif you were able, this is what you would doâ.

Elise, I totally agree with you! Guns causes so much heart ache. And it has forced our children to grow un feeling unsafe in their own communities. I think every parent wants their kids to be safe. And they are NOT in our country. Maybe the âkings of the worldâ should do something about that!

If I were queen of the world, in addition to restricting guns, I would take away all cancer and other severe illnesses. I would also have only kindness spoken. I didnât take thinking of being queen of the world as a literal thing though - I think of it as how I would wish for my world to be, as impossible as that may be.

I found the continued use of âIf I were the queen of the worldâ to be annoying and distracting to the flow of the story.

I found the âif I were queen of the worldâ statements one of the few evidences that Ella had a sense of humor. That being said, if I were queen of the world, I would ease worldwide fear and suffering, trying to make humanity more in balance with the nature of our planet.
