I have been to Paris and the city of love is a perfect description. It is one of the most beautiful cities in the world and it is very romantic. It just seems like there are lovers everywhere.

I think the beauty and reputation in books and movies of gay Paris that leads to this moniker. Yes, I have been to Paris and if you stray off the beaten path, it is magical place with its coffee shops, boulangeries, small shops, etc.

Oh, yes, I’ve been there–it is magical, everything books and movies show. How I’d love to go back–was fortunate to live with a family in Sevres, so not only had my tour book but also the intimacy of locals to share the Paris behind the iconic symbols. Sigh

I have been to Paris twice. It is a beautiful place with so much history. I want to return.

I don’t know. Personally I have turned down the opportunity to go to Paris and instead went to Bratislava, and Prague and Budapest. Those cities held more charm for me because they are such a reflection of the past. My supposition is that Paris is “just another big metropolis” and since I lived for 40 years in the heart of Chicago (another big metropolis) I’d rather wander crooked lanes and forgotten places that reflect a bygone era. In fact, a place like Compliegne!

Paris is indeed the city of love. It is magical. I have been there and was totally absorbed in that feeling.

I’m not sure why, but Paris has always seemed like a wonderfully exciting city to me also. In younger years, I studied French and hoped I would go to Paris. When my time came to travel to Europe though, I chose Ireland and England. Maybe someday yet!

I’ve been to Paris many times for my wedding anniversary and it always feels magical and full of love. I could stare at the Eiffel Tower forever. I love at dark when it’s lit up. The cobble stone streets, museums, and food are always an adventure.

After all this time (and all these comments!) I still have no desire to go to France. England, Ireland, Scotland, Italy and Greece would all be higher priorities!

I went to Paris twice while living in Germany and married to a military officer stationed there. I did love the Eiffel Tower, the Arche de Triumph, Louvre, etc. of course. However, in the early 1970’s Paris was not a welcoming place for Americans in our experience. We have great difficulty getting help with menus in restaurants and even when ordering a pizza we ended up with a raw egg in the middle! The City was dirty and the urinals on the sidewalks were offensive to both eyes and noses. We ended up eating frequently at McDonalds and when traveling elsewhere in France we ate only baguettes, cheese and wine while avoiding restaurants. I think the experience is much better in today’s world as others have described. As a result of our experience we don’t want to return so the City is not where we think about love!

The architecture and ambience of Parish exudes romance and joy. It is a city to stroll, along the Seine, through the Tuileries Garden, up in the Montmartre, the Marais, just about everywhere in Paris has history of love, resistance, courage and the triumph of the human spirit. I always want to go back to Paris. I have been at least five times and certainly want to revisit it soon again. I cannot wait to see the renovated Notre Dame. I have never been to Shakespeare and Company.
