I didn’t get a strong Victorian vibe from the novel. Sometimes location is another character, but unfortunately that wasn’t true in this one, in my opinion.

London, York, Paris - they always feel Victorian. Staff at the back door, horse drawn carriages, open air markets - all that feeds into the time frame.

I didn’t get a real feel of Victorian England. I did love the book cover though, it made think there was a beautiful bookshop.

I didn’t get a strong Victorian feel from descriptions but rather from the characters’ actions and what was considered acceptable for the time. As in, women didn’t work and British upper class didn’t marry regular Americans.
