Do you track the number of pages you read?

Impressive! What’s an example of a reading goal?

@NanK Hi! This year I have a handful of reading goals, including one to read books about or by at least 5 recent Medal of Freedom recipients and one to read at least 8 classics.

I do use goodreads, as it is fun to see what friends are reading and what their thoughts were of a particular book.

Last year, I started a spreadsheet and it does have the number of pages. But, I don’t care how many pages, I just want a good book for me.

The part that has been interesting is I have started to record the publisher. This has led me to new authors and books. Publishers often support similar authors or genres.

I think the publisher piece is really important for the reason you’ve stated. At last year’s Texas Book Festival I approached a small Texas press’ booth and asked them for read-alikes for some of their books I had purchased the preceding year. They were super excited by the interest and I came home with a few more books that I am likely to enjoy a great deal. Small presses, in particular, don’t get nearly enough love.

Admirable goals!! I try to read past Booker Award winners, but my goal is measly compared to yours. I’m impressed, Gabi!

Thanks! The goals are just something I like to do to push me out of my favorite genres.

I hadn’t heard of Storygraph. I’ll have to check that out!

I use Goodreads to track the books I read.
I also use The Storygraph.

It is different than Goodreads. It has challenges you can join. It has page tracking. It has where you can ask for book suggestions. I still like Goodreads but Storygraph has different features that are cool.
