Do you remember reading Louis Sachar’s best-known novel, Holes, as a child or reading it to a child in your life? If so, are there memories about the experience you’d care to share?

I am 74 years old. Louis Sachar was not on my radar when Holes came out. So I am unfamiliar with his other books. I think he is an excellent writer and good with imagery.

I read it to my boys and my granddaughter but unfortunately I do not remember any memories other than they all enjoyed this author.

I am reading it now. There seems to be the same mystical, unusual connections in both. Who would have thought a camp of digging holes would even be considered! Who would have thought various ingredients like poppy tears would be something useful.

I heard of the book but was not interested. Now that I read The Magician of Tiger Castle I plan on reading it.

@Ann_H I have a copy of Holes on my TBRAgain shelf and am wondering how I will feel about it now. Loved it when it first came out, but I worked with children then and their enthusiasm was contagious.
