For me, the Paperwhite’s battery is a huge advantage, especially when I’m traveling. If you turn off the Wifi, you can get a month or more on one charge. It’s also much lighter than an iPad. I don’t read on my iPhone–too small.
I’m always reading more than one book at a time. I have books at home and books at work, physical and digital, fiction, nonfiction, graphic novels. I am new to BookBrowse, and am happy to be able to chat with readers.
Welcome to BookBrowse, Elizabeth!!
I have an old Paperwhite, and it does keep the charge for a long time.
Didn’t know about turning off the Wifi - thanks.
I take mine backpacking for exactly that reason, @Nancy_Read!
Man, it’s a joy to pack along as many books as I want on a trip without worrying about weight!
That certainly is the truth!! We can take hundreds of books that weigh almost nothing. ![]()
Another yes for reading Kindle books on other devices. I use the Kindle reader on the computer, iPad, and phone. Looking up references and footnotes is a breeze. I was intitially wary of reading on the phone, but surprised to learn it was really comfortable. As much as I want to extricate myself from the Amazon giant, I find Kindle a blessing.
I usually read or listen to 3 or 4 books at a time!! I always have a hard copy often classics or older books that I buy from used book stores or ABE books. Then I listen to an audible book while driving or cleaning the house. Then I have a library book on kindle or audio for the more contemporary books. I also have a subscription to Amazon Kindle Unlimited. Deciding what to read depends on my mood or my day. It takes me longer to get through a book but it also gives me time to subconsciously digest the book.
Wow!! That is amazing.
I can only keep track of one book at a time. ![]()
I read one book at a time to give it my full attention. It’s sort of like giving my attention to one person during a back and forth conversation.
I can multiple books at a time as long as the books are from different genres but I do listen to audiobooks and read other books at the same time. It just depends on the mood and setting. Listening is audiobooks on a roadtrip or commuting.
Love your comment.
Good comparison. ![]()
I’m almost always reading multiple books at a time. But I always make sure to have wildly different themes. Often a non-fiction book at the same time as a fiction book for example. That way, I pick up what I’m most in the mood for. Of course, great stories often lead to the exclusion of others “being read”, and some may linger, but I’m used to this approach and it works for me!
I much prefer to read one book at a time. That way I can “live” in the book.
I also prefer to eat one food at a time so I can really taste it.
I am a one-book-at-a-time reader too. ![]()
Love your comment about food. ![]()
I can READ one book and LISTEN to another…this is especially effective if the
audible is non-fiction and the print book is fiction.
I often have a hardcover, an ebook and an audiobook going at the same time.
Multiple. I shift between fiction and non-fiction.
I read one book at a time (usually…sometimes have a very different kind of book
on my Kindle, that I carry with me. I may be listening to a non-fiction book at the
same time I’m reading a book of fiction.
