Both of them were peacemakers: Luella wanted William and Robert to get along despite the circumstances of their relationship to Luella. Nikki wanted her mother and grandmother to reconnect even though she didn’t know why the riff between them had occurred.
Both of them were a bit feisty: Luella rarely held back from saying what needed to be said even though she was sensitive to the timing of her opinion. Nikki would state her opinion, not being sensitive to how it came across. She would find herself reflecting on the impact and try to soften it.
Both of them were advocates: Luella did whatever she could to try to keep the land for the community. Nikki became an advocate for her grandmother to keep her from losing the land.
