Did you think Dan and Jane were on the same page when it came to their parenting? Whose parenting style did you prefer?
I don’t think they were in the same universe, on many topics. Jane, former, was a very hard character get to like. Her dissatisfaction with her life was o full display. She didn’t really listen to Dan at all.
I think they both loved their kids and wanted them to be successful but Jane wanted to accomplish that goal by nagging and pushing her kids to succeed while Dan wanted to talk to them and listen to their needs and their plans for the future
They were definitely not on the same page. Jane didn’t seem to listen to the kids or to Dan. Where Dan wanted to hear what the kids had to say. I don’t think he really listened to Jane though.
No, Dan was too lenient and Jane too controlling. Too bad they couldn’t have used parenting skills that were more “middle of the road”. I think when parents are at odds with parenting children can become confused and possibly work one parent against the other.
Ann_H, I agree, they were not connected nor willing to have a conversation and an agreed upon approach. Neither were good communicators, so I can only image the mixed messages the kids got.
I agree too. I think Jane would only let things be done her way. I think Dan was willing to just let what ever hapened happen
