Did you make any book-related resolutions for 2025?
There have been many years where I have - everything “read more” to “buy fewer” - but not this year.
I haven’t. I just read what makes me happy!!
I did not make any resolutions but I hope to read less books this year. I read a lot and enjoy each book as I am reading it but after a few weeks I forget what the book was about?? Would like to be able to remember more. But probably not as I am a fast reader!!
To read fiction and non-fiction equally this year. To catch-up with my books by clearing out books I will never read and staying focused on what I should read that I already have.
Yes, I have 6 Pulitzer books to read for 2025. I think I can fit in one every 2 months.
30 Books. All of the BookBrowse Top 20, Pulitzer Winners, Newbey, and Booker Prize Winners. I plan to finish “Everything We Never Had,” the BookBrowse YA winner and LOVING it.
For the past couple of years, I have made a list of reading goals. For me it is not about the quantity of books but quality, variety, and pushing myself beyond my preferred genres. A few of the goals have remained consistent from year to year. For example, I have a long term goal to read a book from or about each country on the globe so each year set an objective to tackle a certain number of new countries. One of my new goals this year focuses on the classics, another is on the environment, and recent Medal of Freedom recipients.
- Keep my Reading Journal up to date. I always start out with good intentions and then drift away about June.
- Read 25 of the books I already own in 2025.
- Read or listen to 50 books in 2025.
- Read or listen to at least 1 book per month from 1,000 Books to Read Before You Die by James Mustich.
- Read intentionally, but more importantly enjoy what I’m reading.
I second the clearing out goal. We will be downsizing in a couple of years and I’m sure space for books will be much more limited.
No specific goals for me. I have a shelf that holds all of the unread books I bought last year. I will try to prioritize those because I cared enough to buy them.
I want to focus on reading books I truly enjoy. If they aren’t hitting the mark I move on.
No number goals needed because I will naturally read a lot of books.
No specific goals other than to read what I want & put down any book that’s not doing it for me. After retiring from the public library, where I led the book discussion group, I’m in need of an outlet where I can share titles (in person) with others so I hope to get a small group started in the next couple of months.
No. I want to continue reading Historial Fiction and anything else that looks interesting.
I haven’t made any - just going to enjoy all the books I read.
Same here - not going to read a book that isn’t grabbing me.
LOVE historical fiction.
I plan to use Bibliotherapy to get through 2025 to counter the chaos I anticipate occurring nationally.
@Holly_Batsell “bibliotherapy” - haha, love that!
I have ordered 6 Pulitzers to read this year. I figured I can do 1 every 2 months. I don’t think I will ever finish all the Pulitzers. Some really good books I would have never read and some that just didn’t interest me but I plowed through.
Two goals: 1. To read a more balanced number of fiction and fiction books rather than a larger number of nonfiction books. 2. To read 4 (or more) biographies about our early Presidents (Adams Jefferson, Madison and Monroe)
