I had never heard of the Wager, it was a fascinating story and I enjoyed the author’s writing which, for me, read like a thriller.

No, this was my first encounter with this exciting event.

I didn’t. I imagine if there had been repercussions (i.e., hangings) it would have made more of a splash in the history books. But since the Admiralty seemed to want to just forget the whole darned thing, it got buried.

I wasn’t familiar with the Wager prior to reading this book. It is an interesting story, although I would have preferred more focus on how the individuals in the book thought and felt vs details on the boat.

No, this book was the first that I had heard of it! I did not even know what the ending was going to be, but guessed who survived by the detail of some of the characters.

I knew nothing about the wreck or mutiny prior to reading the book. I thought it was intriguing. I especially like learning about the indigenous people and how they adapted to the environment.

I did not know about the wreck and mutiny before I read reviews of the book last year. In fact, I bought it for my son’s Christmas present in 2023. But I found the reviews intriguing.

I didn’t know anything about the Wager’s history. Actually, this was the reason the book held my attention. It allowed me to broaden my knowledge of early sailing and conquests into the “New World”.

I had not heard about this.

I had never heard of this before. I found the telling of the Wager’s story very interesting and fascinating. I think it would be a good movie! Lol.

I’ve heard of similar stories, not sure if they were in way related to this particular one or to excursions that happened before or since this one.

I did not know about this historic event. The Franklin Expedition disaster seems to get so much more attention than this. Maybe because it’s somewhat more recent. I credit the author David Grann for his painstaking deep dive into researching on a granular level this shipwreck event and bringing it to the foreground.
