Did you have a favorite scene in the novel, and if so, why do you suppose it resonated?
I wouldn’t say this was a favorite scene, but I thought it was pretty funny: Mama G declaring that someone was pregnant. The scene reminded me of being around someone that considered herself all-knowing that they threw reason out the window.
I kinda liked the scene where Eniiyi and Osagie realized they might be father and daughter because of Eniiyi’s “birthmark.” I may have enjoyed it because I was expecting the revelation, but also because it’s one part of the book where the characters are maybe forming bonds.
This was one of my favorite passages, also. It was a real connection and long lasting. Even if they never saw one another again, Eniiyi had an answer. Osagie seemed overjoyed to learn Eniiyi was his daughter, forever his daughter.

I agree with you all. The father-daughter scene was touching and for me, it sort of symbolically broke the curse.

My favorite, like many other readers, is when she realizes who her father is and the conversation they had. I liked when he said he never expected to find this love so late in life.
At that point I realized their future relationship might be the most healthy of all.
