I’ve only read Audition but I now have several others on my wish list. I don’t often try to read entire longlist but I do shoot for completion of the shortlist if I can.
I find this list really interesting. While they’re all critical darlings, most of them aren’t that well-rated by regular readers. Why do you think that is?
Not only have I read none of the books listed, I don’t recall even hearing of the titles until the Booker list came out. I was really surprised that I knew nothing of the books.
I just finished Flashlight. I highly recommend it. It’s a family story, but you never quite know where the story is headed next. It is beautifully written and covers all of the emotions a family creates. Read it.
I’ve read zero so far, but usually read a few every year when they become available at the library.
On a sort of parallel track: I find that Queen Camilla and I like a lot of the same books. If she likes it, I’ll try it. (“The Queen’s Reading Room”)
