Book Trade

One of our members suggested initiating a book trade, so we thought we’d give it a go. This is an experiment, so here’s what I’m thinking:

  • A member posts a book they’d like to swap out, or a book they’re interested in receiving.
  • Those interested in the book negotiate through the Forum’s mail feature. (Click the person’s profile pic or initial and select “Message.”)

I think, for now at least, we should limit this to books received through BookBrowse (First Impressions, book club books).

NO MONEY IS TO EXCHANGE HANDS. This is NOT meant as a way to sell your books.

Although I would not participate in a book swap, I think it’s a great idea for members who are interested in the opportunity.

I have the following to trade:

The Tapestry of time

The Hunter’s Daughter

When they burned the butterfly

Erased

The Ghostwriter

I’m looking for:

Cursed Daughters

What we can know

The wilderness

Play Nice

Death at the sign of the rook

The antidote

The Jackel’s mistress

I agree with Sunny. I would not participate but see this as a good way to trade books.

We have Boozy Book Fair in my town which meets at a local establishment. You may have a drink or two if you like, take a book and choose a book. Only happens a few times a year. A book trade would be fun. I probably would not participate. When I am done with my books I take them to my library for our yearly book sale. And of course I keep many of my books, cannot part with them!! Retired librarian that likes to be surrounded with books!

I won’t personally trade as I give any non ARC books I have purchased or received to the library I grew up in or to my current local library if either doesn’t have a copy. ARCs I give to friends or to the libraries which use them as prizes or put on their giveaway cart. It sounds like a good idea for those who are wanting a specific book.

It could work if enough of us keep the books we received. Perhaps there should be a time frame for the trade, and if you get positive feedback, have another.
