Thirza certainly has questions about her parents’ relationship and marriage when she found her mother’s secret space. When she discovers Columbine burning letters she’s suspicious of the reasons and actions. More questions. Trust issues must have arisen in her with these new discoveries.

Mother/daughter relationships are often very difficult. She was very young at the start and so would not have understood but could have felt the distance between characters. As she grew, I think she had her own perceptions and questions about what made her family the way it was yet she felt loyalty toward them.
