Amanda Skenandore has written a number of books, mostly in the historical fiction genre. Have you read any of her other novels? Is there another book or author you feel has a similar theme or style?
Yes, I read The Second Life of Mirelle West by this author. This book is about the leper colony that was in the US!! I had never known there was a colony located in the US, or how individuals were sent there.
This book reminded me of Looking for Jane by Heather Marshall, an historical fiction of the underground network in Canada that assisted women.
I have read several books by this author. All are excellent and give the reader points to ponder.
I have not read any of her other books. But I plan to. I liked this book. It was very well written about an important subject.
I have also read The Second Life, I like how this author is able to tell a good story using historical missteps as her background. If you liked When No One. . . . you will enjoy at least one of her other endeavors.
No, this is my first book from this author but I too plan to add others to my TBR list.
I read The Nurse’s Secret and enjoyed the author’s mix of historical facts and story line. I agree with Dee that this novel reminded me of Looking for Jane.
I have not read any of her other books but I do plan on adding them to my reading list.
I have read several other books by this author and found them all to be as well researched and emotional as this one was
I have not read any of her previous books.
I have also read The Second Life of Mirielle West and enjoyed that book as well. I also read Moloka’i and Daugter of Moloka’i by Alan Brennert which were also about leper colonies, and all of them helped me to learn about leprosy and the treatment of people who contracted the disease.
I have not read any of Amanda Skenandore’s other books. However, I would love to read her other books. I will definitely check them out. I am putting this author on my toe read list.
I have never read any of her books, but The Nurse’s Secret has been sitting on my bookshelf unread for a couple of years. I enjoyed When No One Else Will so much that I have placed The Nurse’s Secret at the top of my TBR list. My Bachelor’s degree is in Nursing so I’m sure I will really enjoy it.
She’s a new author for me, too. I like her writing so will search for more titles. I commend her for tackling controversial topics from our history.
I read The Nurse’s Secret and would compare it to Looking for Jane.
I have not read this author but have had a couple on my want to read list. Just today I was at a friends house and she’s reading The Nurse’s Secret so that will be coming to me soon. I want to get The Second Life of Mirielle West as books about leprosy have been a long time interest.
I have not read this author before which is surprising as Historical Fiction is my favorite genre. But I did like her writing style and the subject of this book, so I will definitely be looking for more or her books to read in the future.
I have read The Nurse’s Secret and The Second Life of Mirielle West, both of which I liked very much. When the opportunity came to read this one I jumped on it and was certainly not disappointed. Historical fiction is my favorite genre…I continue to learn something new every time I read.
Historical fiction was become one of my favorite genres. Yes, I learn something new with every book.
I have not read any of her other books. I plan on checking out another one, Other historical writers are Marie Benedict and Kristin Hannah, that I like.
