All in all, did Anatole’s tamperings make things better or worse?
I guess that depends on the purpose. Those receiving treatment and got better would consider Anatole’s tampering worthwhile. Anatatole’‘s tampering with both Pito’s and Tullia’s potions were effective in many ways. Their usage deceived others and saved both individuals’ lives. According to Anatole his experiments laid the groundwork to future scientific discoveries. Sure, he couldn’t turn sand into gold but he did increase Luigi’s lifespan.

I think Anatole’s tampering did make things better. Without his intervention Pito would have died and Tulia would have had a very unhappy marriage. I believe Anatole was always trying to help, just not always in the easiest way.
This is a good reflection question because I was thinking to myself at the end, what did his tampering really do? But looking back, it seems Anatole was essential to saving the lives of Pito and Tullia. I think he could have achieved the same ends without the potions though….
I think this is the main question. Whatever you do will have consequences, so the question becomes are the consequences worth Anatole’s tamperings. Generally, I would say yes for Pito and Tullia.
