@kim.kovacs I didn’t know where to put this and you may have already seen it but I know this book was an important one for you. I subsequently read it based on your strong endorsement.
Victoria Amelina, a Ukrainian novelist who died in July 2023 from injuries sustained in a Russian bombing of a restaurant in Kramatorsk, has posthumously won the 2025 Orwell Prize for Political Writing for Looking at Women Looking at War.

Oh wow, @Anne_Glasgow, I hadn’t seen that. Thanks so much for sharing!
You’re right, this was an important one for me. I’m glad you got a chance to read it (hopefully you found it worthwhile) and I’m happy it won an award. Only wish the author was around to know.

I need to read this. Thank you!
It’s really powerful and beautiful in its own way. I hope you enjoy reading it @Paula_Walters
It’s a different kind of book because it’s so unfinished. It feels raw…visceral…It’s certainly tragic that the young woman died while writing the book, but I think its impact was heightened by her death.
I have requested a copy from my library.
