Yikes, I like to think I would have stayed as long as Em and Henry did, but I am a realistic person. I would have left much earlier than they did! I was surprised that they left, but happy that they did because I think it gave them the best chance for a safe and happy life for themselves and Dorothy. The hardship of the Dust Bowl damaged not only the earth, but the physical and emotional health of the homesteaders.

I want them to live near Nell and to have a small farm that they can enjoy a country life.
