What’s the most challenging book you’ve ever read?

Gravity’s Rainbow by Thomas Pynchon was once selected as a book club choice. It was impossible.

Crime and Punishment. I didn’t finish it, and I think all the Russian names contributed to the difficulty. I might try it again, but would keep a list of characters this time.

Mein Kampf by Adolf Hitler

Ulysses by James Joyce, with its dense prose and stream of consciousness style was incredibly hard going in parts, but extremely rewarding. Definitely a challenge.
