I haven’t read the Hisham Matar title, but it’s very well-regarded so I feel I definitely should!
The Fredrik Backman one was exceptional in my opinion. I hope you enjoy it, and I look forward to hearing what you think of it.

Because I will be reading with my ears for the next few weeks, my husband gave me the audible version of The Women by Kristin Hannah for February book club. My bookie friend gifted me with a generous gift certificate from Barnes and Noble which I look forward to spending as well!
@kim.kovacs I endorse the Matar title. It is not light reading but very good.
I gave Paris in Ruins by Sebastion Smee. A nice companion to the Manet-Morisot exhibition in San Francisco. It give historical/political context to the beginnings of the impressionist movement.
