What are you reading this week? And what did you think of last week’s books? (4/16/2026)

Glad to hear it’s good, @Carol_N! The author will be visiting us next month & I hope you’ll stop by with questions.

Last night I finished London Falling by Patrick Radden Keefe. I have read great reviews of the book, and yes it is an amazing true story about the mysterious death of a 19 year old in 2019.
The author details the horrors the parents face finding answers about their son’s death and the plot exhibits amazing investigative journalism of the criminal underworld in London before the pandemic.

I am reading the Correspondent by Virginia Evans. I was intrigued as I am a letter writer and enjoy doing so. Never thought it told more about me than the people I write to! Very enjoyable.

Currently working my way through Extra Sauce by Zahra Tangorra (non-fiction / memoir / foodie) and The Ending Writes Itself (fiction / mystery) by Evelyn Clarke.

Elephant Chaser’s Daughter for book club. Having a very hard time.

I’m listening to I Told You So by Matt Kaplan. This nonfiction book is a fantastic look at research, the scientific method, and how controversial ideas come to be known facts…or not!

Let us know what you think! I love this one.

I thoroughly enjoyed When The Cranes Fly South! It was very touching and very relatable to what I experienced with my parents when they were in their 90’s.

I just started Mother Mary Comes to Me by Arundhati Roy- a memoir about her conflicting relationship with her mother. Finished Project Hail Mary and then saw the movie! The book is a good story but science heavy; the movie is well done!

Finished the family man. What a complex, interesting human being is that Alex Murdaugh! Delighted to hear the author is coming to BookBrowse. One is left with many questions. Did he do it or did someone else have a hand in this complex murder mystery. Murdaugh certainly had many reasons to do so. With his deceptions, fake suicides, fraud, rather long history of opioid abuse and top all that off with his “good old boy” personality, one wonders what is the truth.
