I have it in my Audible cue. Anne, did you read the first book - The Grey Wolf? I didn’t love that but I have heard the Black Wolf is much better. Thoughts?
I agree I loved razorblade of Tears and his other book. but King of ashes was good bit not great
Susan, I’m in the middle of The Black Wolf, which is a better story than the Grey; however, Grey was necessary to read as they seem to be volume one and two. I expect Penny will provide the answers I needed to the first plot line.
Right now I am reading No More Tears, the the dark history of Johnson&Johndon by Gardiner Harris. An extraordinarily well researched study of the dark side of a beloved American company. I will not say more except it is truly horrifying.
I just finished Sunrise on the Reaping by Suzanne Collins - another book in the hunger games series. I truly enjoy her books and though not her best was still great escapism
I am reading Why To Kill A Mockingbird Matters.
I finished reading Red Harvest by Dashiell Hammett. What a let down! I expected more of an exposition (←can’t think of the right word) on corruption, but it was just hard-boiled writing. I haven’t chosen what to read next yet. ![]()
I really enjoyed Birnam Wood. Went into it without expectations and walked away very satisfied.
I agree. I thought Black Wolf was much better than Grey Wolf. It was a little out of Louise Penny’s normal lane which she mentions in her author note at the end.
I used to work in the pharma industry and there was much in No More Tears that really rang true to me. I was shocked at how many of their products have had issues.
I’m 3/4 of the way through and am loving it so far.
Last week, I finished The Heart-Shaped Tin: Love, Loss, and Kitchen Objects by Bee Wilson. This was a great book, especially if you share a fondness for kitchen objects, as I do. This week, I am reading Theo of Golden by Allen Levi - so far, I love this one too!
I enjoyed There are Rivers in the Sky, too. The author was clear about areas that were more speculative, and those that were more fact based which I appreciated.
