What are you reading this week? And what did you think of last week’s books? (11/27/2025)

I’m eagerly waiting for Buckeye from my library. . .

Sounds like a great read!

That is on my TBR for 2026. Sorry for your loss. I hope the book gives you some comfort.

I’m reading Good Spirits, by B. K. Borison, with a romantic, silly Christmas Carol haunting trope. I needed something light and this fits the bill.

I’m reading the Neapolitan quartet by Elena Ferrante. I’ve read the first, My Brilliant Friend, and am halfway through the second, The Story of a New Name. It’s an account of the friendship between two women from the time they were both about five years old. It’s sad to see how one of the two was systematically erased by poverty, trauma, and the suffocating social norms of the time. I’m also reading Cold Enough for Snow by Jessica Au, and A Tale for the Time Being by Ruth Ozeki.

I had knee replacement on November 4th and while I’ve read every day it’s been a struggle. Good luck to you. Buckeye got me reading and the character development in that book is amazing.

Ugh! I’m glad you have enough presence of mind to read! Get well soon!

Savoring Amy Tan’s Backyard Bird Chronicles, and delighting in the imaginary conversations of my feathered feeder friends.

Thank you for giving hope!!

The Indigo Girl has been on my TBR for far too long! Looking forward to your thoughts, Cheryl

I’m catching up on a few items on my bookshelf. After finally reading The Art Forger by B A Shiparo, I decided to read Chasing Beauty: The Life of Isabella Stewart Gardner by Natalie Dykstra - a good companion biography since The Art Forger involves works that were stolen from the Isabella Stewart Gardner museum.

Switching back to WWII history, I picked up All the Frequent Troubles of Our Days by Rebecca Donner at the library yesterday.

I enjoyed the book, a piece of history I knew nothing about.. Reading it I did not realize it was based on a real person. It was fun researching her. Characters were great and I was amazed what a teen aged girl could accomplish.

Looking forward to read Buckeye. Cursed Daughters was hard to read due to the names.

Holly_K, sorry to hear about your knee. Hope your recovery gets easier each day. This Here is Love is a wonderfully written book. I was so surprised that this is her debut. It engaged me from the beginning to end.
