I finished The Natural Way of Things by Charlotte Wood and thoroughly enjoyed it though it is brutal. Just picked up The Botanist’s Assidtant by Peggy Townsend for a cozy respite.

Read Cursed Daughters as a free read for book club and after that wanted to read her first novel My Sister the Serial Killer by Oyinkan Braithwaite. Two very different books. Enjoyed My Sister the serial Killer more. Will be curious to see what she comes up with next.
I finished The Correspondent, by Virginia Evans, which I really enjoyed. What I liked most about the book was that there was a lot of space for me to get a little frustrated with the main character and her choices at times. It didn’t make me want to give up on the book, but pulled me through the story and where I began to understand her perspective. I’m on the “several months” waiting list for Cursed Daughters, by Oyinkan Braithwaite. Instead, I’ve been able to get my hands on Beast of the North Woods, by Annalise Ryan for this week.
I really enjoyed that book!
Theo of Golden. Excellent book.
I am reading a book I’ve heard about for years but never got around to – A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius by Dave Eggers. It is a memoir which is probably at least a little fictional.
This week reading The Gover of Stars by Jojo Moyers - so far loving it
The Giver of Stars sorry for the typo
Last week Nina by Louise Phillips - it was a great read - looking forward to more books by her
Elif Shafak is one of my favorite authors! I was hooked after reading The Forty Rules of Love several years ago.
Have we talked about the Lonesome Dove mini-series with Robert Duvall and Tommy Lee Jones? The entire series is for sale to watch on Prime for $7.99 and it is the BEST follow-up to the book. Robert Duvall IS GUS!

I’m reading Vigil by George Saunders and what a wild ride! Last week I started my reading year with Heart the Lover by Lily King, and now what to reread Writers and Lovers.
Yeah, @Evonne_Benedict that series was amazing. The casting was perfect! Definitely worth the price of admission.
Ooh, Vigil by George Saunders is on my review list for the end of January and I can’t wait to get to it. His Lincoln in the Bardo is among my all-time favorite books. I hope you’re enjoying it!
It’s a very different read for me - I’ve let go of my desire for a conventional narrative and am going with the flow! ![]()
Oh, Time of the Child was my 2024 favorite (I read them in reverse order). It is so perfect for the holiday season! I’ve read Four Letters of Love, which was made into a film with Helena Bonham Carter (watch for free! on Prime)
Loved it! We need a film version ![]()
Did you enjoy Four Letters of Love, @Evonne_Benedict? Is it worth my picking up a copy?
Yes!
FYI Williams and his wife are avid gardeners so if you enjoy that take a look at his ‘In Kiltumper: A Year in an Irish Garden.’
Totally. My husband and daughter couldn’t understand why I would get emotional when certain episodes started. The characters became like close personal friends that laughed and wept with.
