I’m reading my book club’s current pick Bread of Angels by Tessa Afshar. I’m enjoying it!
I’m reading “The Bookclub for Troublesome Women” by Marie Bostwick. I’ve read quite a few of her books and always enjoy them.
I just finished My Friends by Frederik Backman - loved it!
The Vanishing Half and Nobody’s Fool.
Just finished All The Colors of The Dark.. I thought 600 pages would be a lot, but I listened to it and it went fast.
I really loved this book. Am reading Lion Women of Tehran and How to Read a book.
Just finished Calling Me Home by Julie Kibler. It is her debut novel and very well done. From a starting point of a forbidden romance in her grandmother’s life, the author takes the reader on a journey from present to the past via a road trip across several states and back to the American South of the 1930-40s. Alternately narrated by an elderly woman and her trip partner/beautician, the reader is able to get an inside view of virulent racism as well as the beauty of friendship that crosses age and race.
Currently reading Hyperbole and a Half, a graphic novel by Allie Brosh, and listening to The 1619 Project edited by Nikole Hannah-Jones.
I am reading Kimberly Belle’s latest, The Expat Affair. Always enjoy her books.
I am reading THE LAST CAROLINA SUMMER by Karen White.
It is good.
Hoping to start The River is Waiting by Wally Lamb today. After enjoying that one, I am going to read Riley Sager’s With a Vengeance. Wish I had more time to read uninterrupted!
I finished that a few weeks ago. I really enjoyed revisiting that era. The characters were a decade or so older than I was at that time, but Second Wave was all around me. I actually spent an evening with Betty Friedan when she spoke at my campus. Her luggage was lost and several of us in the dorm loaned she and her daughter nightwear and toliletries. That ended up with a late night chat in their guest room. Such a fun memory.
I am currently reading Muppets in Moscow. Thumbs up!
Long Island by Toibin and Orbital is next.
I’ve enjoyed both of those, @NanK!
I just finished Crow Mary by Kathleen Grissom. Great book. Our book club will be discussing on the 19th.
