Were there any minor characters you especially liked or identified with?
I loved the cook in James’s first prison - sorry I can’t remember her name. For Allison Meghan was a great character.
I liked Flo the kitchen cook. She was very compassionate to James.
Two stand out, one is Flo, the motherly kitchen worker and Louis, his bunkmate, at the first location. I disliked immensely the Principal in Allison’s private school. What a fine example of what a good educator should not be!
The minor characters already mentioned represent a reflection of life. Over my many years I’ve experienced both. There were those whose relationships resulted in misery and others who enriched my life at the right times.
I also liked and appreciated Flo, the kitchen cook. She was able to overlook the rules when her empathy caused her to reach out to comfort James. Meagan is also a very likable character. She understands Allison and how important helping James is to her. Meagan and Allison have a very strong, healthy relationship and I enjoyed that aspect of the story.
I agree with those who liked and appreciated Flo, the prison cook. I felt she was such a caring and kind person. I would hope to be like her if I worked in a similar position.
A few of the other characters stood out to me - Flo, the kitchen cook, Lonny the artist, James’ two cellmates and of course Meagan and Gene.
I, too, liked Flo. She was such a comfort to James. I also liked Lonny, and James’s surprise gift to him. I like how well James was well supported in prison.
Ahh, there were so many terrific minor characters, but Flo had my heart. I especially valued her kindness; she is someone who made a difference.
I identified with Cook Flo that gave James comfort and guidance for the way to move forward in life after his mother’s passing.
