The Cloak and Dagger Club references many Golden Age crime authors and classic mysteries. Have you read any mystery novels from this period? Did you notice any parallels?
I have read many of those authors and love them. I could definitely see a similar framework in this story. The author relied heavily on the style from those earlier novels, but with a modern turn of phrase.
I’m a big Agatha Christie fan and could see the similarities especially with Murder on the Orient Express. I would say this was more of a cozy mystery though then some of the classic mysteries that you see.
I am also a fan of Agatha Christie.

The Thursday Murder Club have the main characters dealing with clues to bring people to justice for crimes committed.
This book used the Golden Age as a backdrop for the mysteries, just as Dorothy Sayers and Agatha Christie have done. It really added to the depth of the plot, the characters, and the mystery. The cover drew you right into the Golden Age before you even opened the book. Great cover, by the way, with Red on the front???

I have not so I did not catch the references or parallels. However, I think that by doing so lent credibility to the authors knowledge and research.
