Gathering Moss by Robin Wall Kimmerer (a beautifully written book about the science of moss, mixed with a little personal anecdote, plus plenty of Indigenous wisdom and legends)
Southern Lady, Yankee Spy by Elizabeth Varon (about the badass Elizabeth Van Lew, a Unionist spymaster who lived in Richmond while it was the Confederate capital)
