Many women were scared or intimidated into submitting themselves to these facilities. Women didn't receive due process through a court system. Why do you think women were the primary focus of immoral behaviors and not men?

I agree, and I also believe that women are expected to keep their legs shut, no matter what the conditions are that lead them to engage in sex, whether they be love, lust, incest or rape. Even Mrs. Baker asked Stella if she tried to stop her father. Just another example of how angry the book made me.

Because women were easier targets. They didn’t have all the rights that men had back then. They didn’t have the legal standing and no one would believe their experiences anyway.
