I only listen to audiobooks when I am driving a long distance. Otherwise, it is hard for me to stay focused. And, I tend to fall asleep if I try to listen to an audio book at home. In 2026, I have listened to zero audiobooks.
Audiobooks are approx. 95% of my reading - 30/40 books a year. I listen to audiobooks (and the Wiser than Me podcast) when I do watercolor painting, ink drawing, crocheting, walking and driving around town. I usually have 2 books going - depending on what I am doing while I “read”. I still read hard copies, especially children’s books. I’m the opposite of those who fall asleep to audiobooks - I fall asleep reading hard copies.
I read at least one audio book a week, and am much more discerning about whether I’ll continue after the first 30 minutes. I use the library’s online catalog, so I can easily return a DNF to someone for which it’s a better fit. I love to garden, and having a book accompanying me makes it even better.
I read 1 or 2 books a week - depending on the length of the books and what else is going on in my life. I get them from various sources - Audible, Spotify, Libby, Hoopla & Chirp. It just depends on what is available where.
i have never listened to an audio book nor have I read a book on an electronic device. Call me old-fashioned but I want the feel of the book in my hand or lap and to turn the paper pages.
