Each chapter of the book starts with an excerpt from Inez’s final letter to Rita. What did you think of this technique? How do you feel it set the stage for the chapter each precedes, or for the book in general?

I must not have been paying close attention as I didn’t realize the excerpts were from the same person - I thought they alternated between the sisters.

I liked it, seeing Inez’s thoughts from “outside” of Rita’s daily life and experiences. It drew the story together in a way it might not have otherwise.

I think this was a great technique. It seemed a very personal way for the reader to learn about the deep bond between the sisters. Inez’s heartfelt writing provided a backdrop for the developing story.
